The 14th CHIditarod, Chicago’s annual rambunctious, costumed buying cart race, rolled off Saturday. The course took off from 1550 W. Fulton Market within the West Town neighborhood. Part opposition, element carnival, the CHIditarod is considered the city’s biggest single-day food drive. This year, more than 100 colorful teams raced adorned shopping carts for a terrific cause. Each cart includes a group of 5 and contributes at least sixty-nine pounds of food to the Greater Chicago Food Depository, with prizes provided for the most critical food and financial contributions, in addition to the most innovative carts.
The CHIditarod is a volunteer-driven corporation that has raised more than two hundred 000 pounds of meals for Chicago’s hungry and more than $190,000 for local nonprofits fighting hunger in the Chicago region.
